ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC EDUCATION (CONTINUING TRACK), SCHOOL OF MUSIC, COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES, UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE
INTRODUCTION/POSITION:
The School of Music in the College of Art and Sciences at the University of Delaware seeks an Assistant Professor of Music Education. The full-time member of the School of Music faculty will join a collaborative team of innovative and progressive music teacher educators who embody excellence in pedagogy, prominence in scholarship, and who engage the community through teaching and learning activities. The position is a continuing track faculty position, with benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a completed doctoral degree in music education upon appointment for Assistant Professor rank. ABD candidates will be considered but will be hired at the rank of Instructor. Three years of successful beginning and secondary instrumental music teaching experience is strongly preferred. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is desirable: quantitative research, music psychology or philosophy, music technology, and music learning theory. Candidates should demonstrate a record of and/or potential for significant scholarly contributions to the field.
CONTINUING TRACK (CT): The continuing track is UD’s full-time, continuing faculty line, similar to the tenure track. CT faculty enjoy contracts that increase in length over time and, like tenure-track faculty, receive full and generous benefits, including family-friendly benefits, as part of their compensation package. CT faculty with terminal degrees hold professorial rank and have a path to promotion up to full professor; CT faculty without terminal degrees are at the instructor rank and have a parallel path to promotion. All CT faculty earn sabbaticals, have opportunities to pursue research, participate in shared governance, and hold academic leadership positions. THE UD SCHOOL OF MUSIC Our mission in the School of Music is to provide the best educational opportunities for music majors’ professional development as artists, scholars, creators, and educators. Music faculty offer an integrated curriculum oriented toward developing musicianship, creative thinking, and professionalism, enriched by collaborative initiatives and innovative community partnerships.
