Job Details The ChristianaCare Department of Pediatrics is seeking a board-certified Pediatrics leader to fill the position of Director of Inpatient Pediatrics. This position oversees care for newborn and pediatrics services. The ideal candidate will have a passion for quality & safety, education, strong caregiver culture, and community-hospital-based pediatric care. Administrative time is provided. This position directly reports to the Chair of Pediatrics.
Principal Responsibilities: - Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and development of the pediatric hospitalist team
- Collaborate with and oversee Pediatrics satellite site leaders
- Develop and execute initiatives and policies to standardize delivery of care, optimize operational workflows, and improve pediatric patient quality of care and outcomes
- Champion and commit to continuous improvement activities and innovation
- Facilitate maintenance and expansion of provider skills
- Act as a liaison among Medical Group leadership, campus leadership, and Pediatric Hospital Medicine providers to achieve performance and outcomes goals
- Cultivate a healthy practice environment with a focus on purpose-driven work and transparent communication
- Maintain current Pediatrics knowledge and expertise
- Collaborate with Women's & Children's Service Line leadership on program strategy and development
- Support organizational mission and goals
Pediatrics Program Highlights: - Academic affiliation with Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University (optional)
- Clinical opportunities: serving patients in multiple settings including inpatient pediatrics, newborn nursery, delivery room, and satellite sites
- Educational opportunities: resident teaching (Pediatrics, Med-Peds, Family Medicine) and medical student (Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University) teaching
- Career development opportunities: quality & safety, departmental and institutional committee involvement, leadership education, formal mentorship
- Collaborative opportunities: level II and level III NICUs, ambulatory pediatrics network, Pediatric Emergency Medicine team, and both in-house and external sub-specialty consultants
- Educational resources include: Neonatology & Pediatrics Grand Rounds, multidisciplinary SIMs, a medical library, and a 9000 sq ft SIM Center for skills training
- Flexibility. Part-time and full-time faculty. Additional compensation for nocturnist work.
- Competitive total compensation package. CME. Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
Education and Experience Requirements: - Board certified in General Pediatrics
- Subspecialty certification in Pediatric Hospital Medicine preferred, but not required
- Education and experience to be eligible for an academic appointment
- Minimum 5-7 years of leadership experience
