Summary

The Teacher Assistant will be responsible for the direct supervision of children as well as assisting with daily closing procedures. The ideal candidate will be engaging, patient, and reliable. S/he will maintain active supervision and ensure the safety and comfort of the children in his/her care. The Teacher Assistant will be able to communicate, listen, and work well with others in a team environment. 

We are open Monday-Friday 7:30-6:00. Typical hours for this position will be 1:00-6:00, no more than 25 hours per week.

Duties

� Coordinate daily structured activities for children and actively supervise children at play in the classroom, in the gym, or on the playground.
� Anticipate and meet the immediate needs of children including personal hygiene needs that may arise.
� Follow protocol for pickup to ensure that children leave only with authorized adults and that their departure is recorded.
� Assist with light cleaning duties and daily closing procedures.
� Maintain a positive, calm demeanor and tone of voice.
� Participate in ongoing professional development as required by the state of Tennessee and CSUMC Preschool.
� Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviors and work habits when in contact with children, parents, and staff members

Requirements

� Must possess at minimum a high school diploma or GED.
� Experience working with children is preferred.
� Ability to respond quickly to the physical and emotional needs of children.
� Must have Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification.
� Must clear a full background check.
