Isola, an industry leader in global materials sciences whose mission is to improve life by enabling innovation in electronic products, is hiring an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at our Ridgeway, SC facility.

Compensation: $65 to $75k

Work Arrangement: Onsite

The Role

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist's primary job responsibility includes all aspects of the Environmental, Health, and Safety programs at the facility under the direction of the Plant Manager.

TOP RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the RCRA (hazardous and non-hazardous waste) for inspection, disposal, manifesting, and labeling of waste materials.
  • Work with the Plant Manager to update the Emergency Response and Contingency Plan.
  • Coordinate emergency response activities and be the lead for the Emergency Action Team.
  • Assist management with weekly/monthly EHS meetings, EHS metrics, compliance monitoring, and EHS training.
  • Performing or participating in EHS inspections, for example, LOTO review, PPE review, daily/weekly inspections etc.
  • Coordinate and comply with our Air Emissions, Storm Water, and Waste Water Management programs.
  • Conduct week New Hire Orientation
  • Under the direction and guidance of the Plant Manager, complete reports required by governmental agencies.
  • Conduct Safety Training in the areas of LOTO, Forklift, Respirator, Hazcom, PPE, JSA, etc.
  • Maintain all regulatory and non-regulatory required programs and procedures in coordination with the Plant Manager.
  • Respond to and document all EH&S corrective actions arising from near misses, incidents, and recordable injuries. Work with the plant leadership to ensure timely closure of open items.
  • Write and modify Standard Operating Procedures, Visual Operating Guides (VOG), and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) in conjunction with HR Manager as required.
  • Perform daily, weekly & monthly internal audits, communicate findings, and track corrective actions.
  • Facilitates Safety Meetings at the Management and Plant level.
  • Safety is every employee's responsibility. Follow all safety policies and procedures in accordance with policies and local, state, and federal laws.
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned work areas, including equipment, tools, and work surfaces.
  • Use Lean/Six Sigma Methodologies to improve the process.
  • All employees will be required to participate in training and continuous improvement events.
  • Ability to work within a company registered/compliant to National and International Standards and Requirements and contribute to those standards and requirements-for example, ISO, OSHA, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure plant employees are following Isola EHS policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2-year degree or equivalent experience within the field.
  • 4-year degree preferred.
  • 2 -years of previous EH&S experience in a manufacturing setting is required.
  • A candidate may substitute ten years of experience for a degree.
