POSITION SUMMARY
Join a dynamic and growing company as a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor , where you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our fleet operations. In this hands-on leadership role, you'll oversee daily shop activities and manage a skilled team of mechanics dedicated to keeping our fleet in top condition. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, JOB DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement daily and weekly maintenance plans to ensure preventive maintenance is completed while adjusting priorities based on operational needs. Provide clear direction to mechanics to ensure the fleet is maintained and repaired safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Monitor shop inventory to maintain appropriate equipment and parts levels, ensuring purchases remain within budget. Approve routine expenses within scope and escalate significant expenses or major repairs to the manager as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and policies established by the company, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
  • Manage the procurement and delivery of vehicles and equipment, ensuring all acquisitions meet licensing, registration, and inspection requirements per Massachusetts state law. Oversee the sale and proper disposition of retired or scrapped equipment.
  • Perform various repair and maintenance tasks as needed, including welding, part replacement, electrical system repairs, minor bodywork, tune-ups, and engine overhauls. Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot problems.
  • Review repair reports for accuracy and maintain detailed records of fleet maintenance activities. Prepare and submit monthly billing for bulk services.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance for departmental vehicles, ensuring timely repairs and part orders.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with vendors to secure competitive pricing and quality service.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to safety procedures and collaborating with the safety and environmental manager to address incidents, audits, or concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance facility.
  • Manage employee schedules, approve timecards and time-off requests, and collaborate with HR on payroll matters. Conduct annual performance reviews, provide coaching and discipline, and assist with hiring new employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE DESIRED

  • High school or technical school graduate with coursework in auto/equipment mechanics.
  • Six (6) years of experience in diesel engine/heavy equipment repairs, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License (CDL A), valid medical card, and a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIES

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for equipment repair.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees and vendors.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in coordinating programs, preparing reports, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with minimal supervision and in outdoor environments (e.g., responding to breakdowns, making road calls).
  • Knowledge and experience in heavy and light truck repair, including diesel and gas engines.
  • Expertise with shop tools, preventative maintenance programs, and hydraulic/air brake systems.
  • Familiarity with DOT/OSHA regulations and safe working practices.
  • Availability to work overtime and weekends as required.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
