The successful HR Assistant will first and foremost be extremely reliable, pro-active and have superior customer service skills. This position requires a responsible individual who can commit to being at work on time and who has experience with organizational tasks. This position is paper intensive and requires attention to detail.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Assist with day-to-day operations of the HR functions and duties.

· Lead on recruiting, schedule interviews, prescreening, and onboarding; union and/or non-union.

· Ensure adherence to the union terms outlined in building union contracts, including wages, benefits, seniority rights, and working conditions.

· Assist in resolving contract-related disputes by referencing specific provisions within union agreements.

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of amendments and modifications to contracts, ensuring accurate application of terms.

· Collaborate with union representatives to address contract interpretations and ensure a positive working relationship.

· Prepare reports and documentation related to contract compliance, grievances, and disciplinary actions in accordance with 32BJ and Local Union 23 standard

· Assists with payroll information by collecting time and attendance records.

· Submits employee data reports by assembling, preparing, and analyzing data.

· Maintains employee information by entering and updating employment and status-change data.

· Provides secretarial support by entering, formatting, and printing information.

· Organize work.

· Answers the telephone, relays messages, and maintains equipment and supplies.

· Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping human resource information confidential.

· Maintains quality service by following organization standards.

· Provide clerical and administrative support to Human Resources executives.

· Compile and update employee records (hard and soft copies).

· Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations etc.).

· Coordinate HR projects (meetings, training, surveys etc.) and take minutes.

· Deal with employee requests regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations.

· Assists the HR Manager and HR Generalist as needed.

· Coordinate communication with candidates and schedule interviews.

· Assist our recruiters to source candidates and update our database.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

· Prior experience in human resource roles

· Microsoft office knowledge required

· Must have thorough knowledge of union contracts, with a strong focus on 32BJ and Local 670 agreement

· Bilingual in Spanish preferred

**This position is fully in-office Monday-Friday
