Pharmacy Manager – Pharmacist in Charge

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Pharmacy Manager/Pharmacist in Charge reports to the CNO and is responsible and accountable for the provision of safe, effective, and prompt medication therapy in accordance with Colorado and federal laws and regulations. Provide support of centralized and decentralized medication-use systems as well as deliver optimal medication therapy to Middle Park Health patients with a broad range of disease states. Provides direct patient-centered care and integrated pharmacy operational services in a decentralized practice setting with physicians, nurses, and other hospital personnel.

Essential Job Duties :

• Lead and oversee the Pharmacy Services department and maintain twenty-four(24) hour Seven(7) day a week pharmacy services for the hospital system per regulations.
• Maintain a current formulary of approved drugs and biologicals. Maintain an adequate stock of medications listed in the formulary. Maintain medication stocks so they do not contain outdated, unusable, and mislabeled products.
• Responsible for the quality, quantity, and sources of supply of all medications. Oversee the ordering of medications and review / approval of pharmacy related invoices.
• Participates in pharmacy operations and medication
• Ensures new staff training/orientation to the pharmacy department and medication administration.
• Formulates the pharmacy services budget, evaluates department performance versus budget controls and takes appropriate action to remain within budget guidelines.
• Creates regular staff schedules, staff meetings and participates in on-call duties.

Requirements:

• Current active license with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies Colorado Board of Pharmacy.
• Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy.
• Knowledge of contemporary hospital/clinical practice and service.
• Significant knowledge and expertise in advanced pharmacy practice, specialty medication therapy management, and specialty evidence-based medicine in area appropriate for clinical assignments.
• Familiar with use and reports related to automative medication dispensing machines.
• Achieve and maintain a PALS and ACLS certification (within 60 days upon hire)
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units in measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages and decimals.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctor of Pharmacy or other advanced degree highly preferred.
• Completion of PGY-2 Specialty Pharmacy Residency is preferred.
• Clinical pharmacy experience (2-4 years) in a hospital setting preferred.
• NRP certification preferred.

Compensation: $88.00 – $90.00 per hour DOE * $350/mo Housing Stipend available for residents of Grand, Summit and Jackson County.*

Status: Full Time 30-32 hours per week + benefits
