Job Description

We are seeking a Teacher for our Child Development Center's Tuition Based Preschool Program. This position reports directly to the Executive Director of the Child Development Center (CDC). The position is 10 months, 8 hours per day. The teacher is responsible for the supervision of children in the classroom as well as the planning and implementation of the curriculum.

Example of Duties:

  • Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Lead by example: encourage teaching team to success through modeling and coaching.
  • Plan and execute individual, small and large group activities that are developmentally appropriate to actively engage children and encourage social/emotional, cognitive and physical growth and development.
  • Actively engage with children during all times of the day to scaffold learning.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, parent-teacher conferences.
  • Ensure all center policies, district and state regulations are met.
  • Ensure NAEYC, Grow NJ Kids, ECERS, or other quality indicators are followed.
  • Maintain appropriate health, safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following all classroom and center policies.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms, and files including assessments, progress reports and rating scales.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality.
  • Follows and adheres to policies and procedures stated in the Staff Handbook and of Passaic County Community College.
  • Additional duties as necessary or assigned by administration.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field.
  • Experience working with children and/or families.

The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
